An update on La Pass, nearly finished piecing the border, then to square it up with a little bit of help from my friend Shirley.
I will get it machine basted so I can hand quilt. I am a bit more relaxed about this quilt now that I have a ton of the border material (not easy to find).
It's looking great Robyn. So nearly finished, but it must be hot to work on this in Melbourne in summer.
ReplyDeleteYes Wendy, especially yesterday it was 43 degrees, although I have a huge table in my sewing room and it takes the weight of the quilt, so I can work on it anytime.
DeleteNot sure if I have fixed the no comment on my blog, but I did what you suggested, so I am hoping it's ok. Good to hear from you Wendy...:-)
That looks incredible! Nice job! Where do you find the border material for this? I can't wait to try one of my own - I ordered the book and have been working on hexies for a long time.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comments Becca. There is a story behind the border material...I was going to make the border in different shades of grey and a girlfriend said no, make it all in one colour, which I am happy I did, but I only had 1/2 a metre. Well as you have probably guessed, I could not find it again. I had also pieced 1.1/2 sides and didn't want to unpick it, so I searched everywhere and in the end a friend found it in Sydney and got it sent to Melbourne and I almost cried when it got here.
DeleteThis is a very satisfying pattern, fussy cutting is optional, but my preference and certainly creates added interest. I enjoyed every minute making this quilt and hope you enjoy it as much as I did...:-)
A stunning quilt for sure. I am also a fussy cutting addict. There's just so much to look at in the quilt. It looks like you plan to leave the grey as a wide border - I like that idea...
ReplyDeleteThank you again for the comments Sarah.
DeleteI have been fussy cutting for 15-20 years and the addiction still has not wavered.
I am planning on squaring off the the grey, but don't mind it being wider. I have really enjoyed piecing the border, it's a bit like a jigsaw puzzle....:-)
